American Theatres
During my theatrical career, I had the opportunity to work in a wide
variety of performing spaces. With the purchase of my first
digital camera in 2001, I began photographing theatres, most extensively
on the children's theatre tours I stage managed for
Theatreworks/USA
(Charlotte's Web in 2002 and Romeo and Juliet in 2006)
and Artspower (Hans Brinker in 2001). The venues on these tours
ranged from humble elementary school cafeterias to lovely relics of the
golden age of American theatre construction in the early 20th century.
This is a collection of a select group of those tour pictures along with some
other photos from my travels. While this collection is far from
comprehensive, it does represent a unique perspective on the diversity
of the American theatrical architecture landscape.
