Built by Henry and Irwin Chanin as Chanin's 46th Street Theatre. Renamed simply the 46th Street Theatre in 1932 and renamed for composer Richard Rodgers in 1990. Notable past productions include: Good News (1927), Anything Goes (1935), Knickerbocker Holiday (1939), DuBarry Was a Lady (1939), Panama Hattie (1940), One Touch of Venus (1944), Finian's Rainbow (1947), Guys and Dolls (1950), Damn Yankees (1955), How To Succeed in Business (1961), I Do I Do (1966), 1776 (1969), Chicago (1975), Working (1978), Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1978), Nine (1982), Fences (1987), Lost in Yonkers (1991), Fool Moon (1993), Side Show (1997), Footloose (1998).
