Mark Hellinger Theatre

Built by Warner Brothers as one of the last movie palaces in midtown. Converted to live theatre in 1934 and renamed the 51st Street Theatre. The film screen was removed in 1949 when the theatre was renamed after critic Mark Hellinger. The theatre was leased to a Times Square Church in 1989 and purchased by the church in 1992 for $17 million.
