Henry Miller's Theatre
Demolished
Opened 1918
124 W. 43rd Street
Built by Henry Miller and served as a lovely, intimate, three-tiered legit theatre until 1969.
Spent time as a porn movie house and nightclub before reopening in 1998 with a revival of
Cabaret. Her charm outlived her economic usefulness and the body of the theatre
was destroyed in 2004. The landmarked facade will be incorporated into a new skyscraper
which will include a completely new 950-seat Broadway theatre.
Past productions include Our Town (1938), Born Yesterday (1948), The Subject was Roses (1965),
Urinetown (2001).
