Built as the Uris Theatre. Renamed for composer George Gershwin during the 1983 Tony Awards broadcast. Notable productions include Seesaw (1973), Gigi (1973), Singin" in the Rain (1985), Starlight Express (1987), Grand Hotel (1992), Riverdance On Broadway (2000). Also used extensively for concerts.
