Arthur BrisbaneFifth Avenue at 101st Street Arthur Brisbane (1864 - 1936) was a New York journalist who worked for The Sun, the New York World and, most notably, for Hearst's New York Journal, a gossip-filled tabloid that marked the beginning of "Yellow Journalism". This monument was designed by the firm of Shreve, Lamb and Harmon and dedicated in 1939. The low-relief effigy of Brisbane carved into the monument is by sculptor Richmond Barthe (1901 - 1989).
