The General Electric Building - 570 Lexington Avenue

This Art Deco gem was built between 1929 and 1931 and designed by the architectural firm founded by brothers John Walter Cross and Eliot Cross. Although planned as the headquarters for RCA, it was deeded to General Electric before completion. The octagonal tower rises 57 stories and is crowned with ornamentation that is an allegory of "Wireless Communications". The building underwent and extensive restoration from 1994 to 1996.
