Marie Theresa Subligny (1666-1735)Marie Theresa Subligny (1666-1735) followed Mlle La Fontaine. She was the ballerina from 1688 to 1707. Subligny paved the way for other female dancers to come. She appeared mostly in opera ballets of Lully and Campra. She was the first professional ballerina to appear in England. (First published March 1991) You know I don't make this up. If it is not in the book I don't teach it. |
