The Fenway Theatre was designed by Thomas Lamb and opened as a movie theatre. The Berklee School of Music (founded 1965) purchased the theatre and the adjoining Sherry Biltmore Hotel in 1972. As a completely modernized concert facility, the theatre reopened on April 5, 1976.
