Lake Claiborne Dam

32.7231,-92.9203

Lake Claiborne in Claiborne Parish (near Homer in Northwest Louisiana) was formed by damming Bayou D'Arbonne in the mid 1960s. A state park on the southern shore of the 5,915-acre lake opened in 1974. The lake was quite low when we visited in December of 2011, although I'm not certain whether that was because of the recent drought or an intentional lowering to facilitate construction on a bridge on LA 146.
