Louisiana State Capitol BuildingBaton Rouge, LA The landmark Louisiana State Capitol building houses the governor's office, the legislature and parts of the executive branch in a 34 story tower. The building was designed by the firm Weiss, Dreyfous and Seiferth and required three years of construction which were completed in March of 1932. The 27-acre capitol grounds include the capitol gardens as well as the grave of populist former governor Huey Long, who was a major force behind the construction of the building, which was the site of his assassination in 1935.
